Dr. Vikram Shivkumar is a neurologist with the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute Neurology Group. He specializes in caring for patients with movement disorders such as:
- Parkinson's disease
- Lewy body dementia
- Essential tremor
- Dystonia
- Huntington's disease
- Tourette syndrome
He also serves as the institute’s division director of Movement Disorders. Some of Dr. Shivkumar's specialties include deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's and botulinum toxin injections for dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm and spasticity.
Dr. Shivkumar believes in developing comprehensive treatment plans for each patient including medications, surgical therapies and rehabilitation.
Dr. Shivkumar’s Training
He earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in India. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Ohio with a residency in neurology and a fellowship in movement disorders.

He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and Movement Disorder Society and he is now a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Shivkumar also has served as the principal investigator for multiple clinical trials pertaining to treatment of Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor, contributed to three book chapters, and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in medical journals. Additionally, he is a professional reviewer for eight medical journals and a frequent speaker at Parkinson’s disease support groups.
Outside of work, Dr. Shivkumar enjoys spending time with family, watching and playing soccer, and reading books.
