Congenital hand deformities are present at birth and can cause a child to have problems interacting with the environment with their hands as they grow. There are many different degrees of deformities ranging from minor to severe. Hand deformities have different classifications. These are problem in the development of parts, like clubhand, the failure of parts of the hand to separate, duplications, overgrowth and undergrowth of digits, and congenital constriction band syndrome. Each type of deformity has a different style of treatment. These could include limb stretching, tendon transfers, external appliances, physical therapy, skin grafts and prosthetics.
