As well as the salary and insurance benefits of being an APP Fellow, participation in the Fellowship carries significantly more “nonmeasurable” benefits. This Fellowship will provide a significant step-up in your career transition into becoming an Orthopedic APP. It will provide significant experience, training, and development of skills and knowledge that will carry through your entire career. It will also provide opportunities for networking and exposure, which otherwise would be hard to replicate. If the Fellow decides to stay with Orlando Health after successful completion of the program, the Fellowship effectively becomes a one-year on-boarding process, spring boarding your transition into a successful practice.

  • About

The Radiation Oncology Physics Residency program is administered within the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. The cancer center is a unit of Orlando Health, located at the main downtown Orlando campus. In addition to the main campus, there are currently four satellite facilities located in the Orlando Metro area that are a part of our department and all use a common enterprise EMR and treatment planning system. Residency training is mainly concentrated at the main center in downtown Orlando. However, the resident will also have an opportunity to rotate through the satellite facilities, exposing them to different modalities and technologies.

  • Overview

Orlando Health Cancer Institute (previously M. D. Anderson Cancer Orlando until January 2014) began its physics residency program in June 2005. The first physics resident was hired in June 2005. A second resident was added in January 2006. Each resident completed a twenty-four-month residency training program, and upon completion of each resident’s term, another resident was hired. The program applied for CAMPEP accreditation in July 2007, and was granted accreditation in May 2008 for a five-year term through the end of 2012. The program has consistently achieved reaccreditation every five years, with the latest accreditation period set to expire at the end of 2028.
