  • Howard G. Smith, MD, FACS, FCCM

    Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Indiana University and his surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Connecticut/Hartford Hospital. He is board certified in general surgery with added qualifications in surgical critical care.  Dr. Smith’s interests burns, nutrition, critical care and trauma.

  • Michael Cheatham, MD, FACS, FCCM

    Dr. Cheatham earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed both his general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He is board certified in general surgery, with added qualifications in surgical critical care. Dr. Cheatham's research interests include advanced hemodynamic monitoring, shock resuscitation, abdominal compartment syndrome, disaster preparedness, and third-world medicine. He is active in a number of national and international surgical, trauma, and critical care societies. He is the past president of the World Society for Abdominal Compartment Syndrome.
