Eugene Jewett, MD Surgery Center reaches major milestone with 25,000 procedures

ASC dedicated to orthopedic and spine care opened in 2023

Orlando, FL (September 23, 2025) – This week, the Eugene Jewett, MD Surgery Center welcomed its 25,000th patient after opening its doors just over two years ago. The facility is the largest ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in Florida dedicated to orthopedic and spine care with 12 operating rooms and three minor procedure rooms.

Christopher McCallister of Titusville became the ASC’s 25,000th patient on Monday, September 22. He underwent hand surgery with Justin Zumsteg, MD, a hand and upper extremity specialist at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. Of the facility’s 25,000 procedures, more than 4,500 have been on a patient’s hand or upper extremity.

“This milestone is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication to serving the Central Florida community since the day we opened our doors,” said Jennifer Danner, senior director of surgical services for the Eugene Jewett, MD Surgery Center. "It’s an honor to care for so many patients during their health journeys, continuing Dr. Jewett’s legacy now and for years to come.”

The Eugene Jewett, MD Surgery Center opened alongside the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Downtown Complex in 2023. Nearly 60 orthopedic, interventional pain and neurosurgery physicians operate at the facility, with an additional 150 team members caring for patients during procedures.
