Orlando, Fla. (October 10, 2022)— Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) recently received the Environmental Services Department of the Year Award from the Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE), of the American Hospital Association. Orlando Health ORMC was recognized in the 500+ Beds category.

The Environmental Services Department of the Year Award provides national recognition for the significant contributions made by an environmental services department to the overall patient experience and for achieving a health care organization's mission.

“This achievement reflects our team members’ commitment and dedication to providing a remarkable patient experience and to being a productive partner with fellow team members from departments across the health care organization,” said Michael Parker, CMIP, T-CHEST, T-CSCT, T-CNACC, director, Environmental Services and Corporate Linen, Orlando Health ORMC. “We are focused on providing great outcomes just like the nurses, doctors, and other clinical team members at Orlando Health ORMC. Our team has really gotten behind this endeavor and our results are evident of the unification of our team.”

The award also highlights the outstanding achievements of a cutting-edge environmental services team in maintaining high levels of performance in cleaning, disinfecting, environmental infection prevention, environmental sustainability and stewardship, technology use, patient experience and environmental services team education and training.

“Team members and technology are critical keys to our success,” said Parker. “We support our team members with training and professional development opportunities such as specialized environmental services certification courses, and ongoing training on procedures, processes, and supplies. We also embrace innovation initiatives like software to improve communication and efficiency in the cleaning process, and ultraviolent technology for the disinfection process.”

The Orlando Health ORMC Environmental Services Department will be presented the award during the AHE Exchange 2022, October 3-5, in Orlando, Florida.
