“Orlando Health is committed to improving care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for heart attacks and strokes,” said Suzanne Worthington, senior vice president and chief quality officer, Orlando Health. “The Get With The Guidelines program makes it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work every day, which helps us ensure more people in our community have longer and healthier lives.”
The hospitals earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period.
These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines with the goal of improving patient outcomes.
A stroke occurs when there is a loss of blood flow to part of the brain from a blood vessel that is either blocked by a clot or has ruptured.
In addition to following treatment guidelines, the stroke care teams at Orlando Health also educate patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home, plus connect them to resources for follow-up care.
