Bio
Dr. Sonali Raman is a dual board-certified urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgeon at the Orlando Health Women's Institute Center for Urogynecology. She specializes in diagnosing and treating pelvic floor disorders, including:
- Urinary incontinence
- Pelvic organ prolapse (dropping of the bladder, uterus or vagina)
- Accidental bowel leaks (Fecal incontinence)
- Vaginal fistula repair
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Painful bladder syndrome, interstitial cystitis and recurrent UTIs
- Urethral diverticulum
Dr. Raman believes that discussing a patient’s goals for treatment and prioritizing excellent communication are important in building a lasting relationship and improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Raman’s Training
Dr. Raman earned her medical degree at Northeastern Ohio Medical University in Rootstown. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. Her fellowship in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery was at Brown University’s Warren Alpert School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island.
About Dr. Raman
Dr. Raman is double-board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She also is a fellow of the American Council of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has led many quality improvement projects that optimize patient outcomes and physician efficiency.
Dr. Raman has participated in several international programs, including an internship at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. She also has volunteered her clinical skills in India and Rwanda.
She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications on topics including pelvic organ prolapse, cancer of the uterus, stress urinary incontinence and fistulas. She also serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
