Bio
Alexis Wood is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) and board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP-BC) with the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. She manages pre- and post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients, and her specialties include:
- Cardiothoracic surgery
- Heart, lung, liver and kidney transplants
- Advanced heart failure
- Left ventricular assist devices
- Mechanical circulatory support
Alexis has more than 10 years of experience and has served as an acute care nurse practitioner.
Alexis’ Training
Alexis earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Arizona State University’s Mayo Clinic Accelerated Program in Phoenix and received a Master of Science in nursing (MSN) from the University of California at Los Angeles.
She is a doctorate of nursing practice candidate at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she completed her Nurse Educator Certificate Program.

Alexis is board-certified in adult-gerontology acute care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Outside of work, Alexis enjoys scuba diving, traveling and spending time with family. She also volunteers for organizations engaged in cooking education and medical missions.

The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
