Bio
Dr. Ana Mercedes is a board-certified and fellowship-trained cardiologist with the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. She has a special interest in women’s cardiovascular health. Her experience includes preventive cardiology, patient education and non-invasive therapies, and she treats a variety of illnesses related to the heart and blood vessels, including:
- Coronary and artery disease
- Myocarditis
- Arrhythmias
- Hypertension
- Hyperlipidemia
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm
- Heart valve disease
Dr. Mercedes believes in taking a customized approach to meet each patient’s needs and also advocates for lifestyle modifications related to nutrition, physical activity and stress management in conjunction with other medical therapies.
Dr. Mercedes’ Training
Dr. Mercedes received her medical training from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, where she graduated with honors. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut, which is affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Mercedes completed her fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, where she was the chief fellow.
About Dr. Mercedes
Dr. Mercedes is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is affiliated with the American Heart Association, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and American College of Physicians. Her research topics include broken heart syndrome, tricuspid valve removal and gelatinous marrow transformation.
Outside of work, Dr. Mercedes enjoys cooking, Latin American literature, dancing, traveling and spending time with her family. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
