Bio
Dr. Andrew Kerner is a board-certified surgeon with the Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute. His specialties include:
- Minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery
- Colorectal cancer
- Stoma/ostomy creation and reversal surgery
- Diverticulitis
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
- Hemorrhoidal disease
- Anal fissure management
- Anorectal fistula repair
- Abscess drainage
- Pelvic floor disorder and rectal prolapse
- Colonoscopy
- Screening for hereditary colon cancer
Dr. Kerner strives to make sure patients feel comfortable discussing issues that are affecting their quality of life. He believes developing personal relationships is the key to creating trust, aligning treatment goals and moving forward together.
Dr. Kerner 's Training
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in global health at Pennsylvania State University in University Park and received his osteopathic medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury. Dr. Kerner completed a general surgery residency at Rutgers Health – Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, where he served as chief resident, and two fellowships in advanced minimally invasive colorectal surgery at Orlando Health. He gained additional training in Da Vinci Xi robotic surgery.

Dr. Kerner is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and he has delivered presentations at national conferences.
Dr. Kerner has volunteered in Guatemala, providing general surgery services to an underserved rural community.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and dog, golf, cycling and exploring national parks.
