Barinder Mahal, MD, FABPMR, is a physician with Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Mahal specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FABPMR).
Dr. Mahal cares for patients with impairments or disabilities of the brain, spinal cord and nerves, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, burn care and more. Working as part of a comprehensive care team, he develops a personalized treatment plan for each patient with the goal of restoring as much functional ability as possible and enhancing the patient’s quality of life.
Dr. Mahal earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus and a bachelor’s degree in science from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, graduating summa cum laude. He completed an internship in general surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago; a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan; and a fellowship in electromyography (EMG), sports medicine and spine at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
Dr. Mahal is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and American Medical Society of Sports Medicine.
