Bio
Brett Lewellyn, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds additional certification to perform surgery of the hand and fingers. His areas of practice include all aspects of upper extremity orthopedic surgery extending from the shoulder to the fingertips. This includes sports-related and traumatic injuries to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand and fingers as well as chronic conditions in these areas such as arthritis.
Hand Specialist
As patients with conditions and injuries of the hand and fingers begin to experience severe pain, loss of mobility and diminished quality of life, they may need the care and experience of a hand specialist like Dr. Lewellyn.
Nonsurgical treatments may be recommended prior to a decision to proceed with surgery. After a thorough examination and evaluation, Dr. Lewellyn might suggest one or more nonsurgical approaches such as physical therapy, prescription medication management and injections. If these do not lead to improvement, he will review next steps and advise if surgery is the best solution.
Dr. Lewellyn's Training
After serving on active duty in the United States military, Dr. Lewellyn earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington.
