Candace DeBerardinis is a certified adult nurse practitioner and an advanced oncology nurse practitioner (AOCNP) in radiation oncology at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. Her areas of expertise include:
- Coordinating care for cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment
- Diagnosing and treating tumors affecting the brain and spine
- Management of radiation side effects
Candace has more than 10 years of experience as an oncology advanced practice registered nurse. She has her radiation certificate and also is certified as an advanced oncology nurse practitioner. She has experience working in medical oncology, assisting with bone marrow transplants, and treating benign and malignant hematology.
She believes in approaching cancer not only with the aim of treating the malignancy and maintaining a patient's life expectancy, but also with the focus of preserving quality of life. Candace believes in treating the whole patient and not just symptoms and disease, as well as the importance of compassion in oncologic care.
Candace’s Training
Candace received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She earned a Master of Science in nursing (MSN) with certification as an adult nurse practitioner from the University of Cincinnati.
About Candace
Candace is a certified adult nurse practitioner (ANP-C) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also certified as an advanced oncology nurse practitioner and has her radiation certificate. She is licensed in Florida as an advanced practice registered nurse.
Candace is a founding member of the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology. Her other professional memberships include the Oncology Nursing Society, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Florida Society of Clinical Oncology and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nurses.
Outside of work, she enjoys being a mother of two boys and cheering for her husband at the racetrack. Her hobbies are classic cars, reading and painting positivity rocks.
