Claudia Araque is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) with the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. She works alongside advanced heart failure specialists, electrophysiologists, and general and interventional cardiologists to provide care to cardiac patients. Her area of expertise is interventional cardiology with a focus in structural heart disease. Claudia’s job duties include:
- Evaluating and managing acute and chronic cardiac disease patients
- Conducting post-procedure appointments
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
- Providing patient education on preventive cardiology, diagnosis and treatment options
Claudia’s care philosophy is to treat patients as if they are family members or friends and to listen closely without judgment. She was inspired to become a certified physician assistant after a car accident left her with a long recovery. During that time, the care of excellent PAs helped her return to her active lifestyle and career goals.
Claudia’s Training
Claudia earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and a bachelor’s in physician assistant studies from Miami Dade College. She received a Master of Medical Science in physician assistant studies from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
About Claudia
Claudia is certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates and Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
She was born and raised in Colombia and believes being Hispanic has helped her connect with many Spanish-speaking patients and those with similar backgrounds.
Outside of work, Claudia enjoys playing volleyball, visiting family in Miami, spending time with friends and traveling. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
