Dana is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with the Heart Failure Clinic at Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute. With 30 years of experience, more than 10 of which was spent as a critical care flight nurse, Dana is well versed in various treatment modalities and takes opportunities to further her education.
Her skills include:
- Caring for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients
- Evaluating and treating heart failure and critically ill patients
- Providing emergency care
- Cardiac and stroke emergency management
- Coordinating care with cardiovascular surgeons
Dana takes pride in providing compassionate care and treating each patient as if they were one of her loved ones.
Dana’s Training
She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mobile in Alabama. Dana earned a master’s degree as an adult-gerontological acute care nurse practitioner and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
About Dana
Dana is a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has specialty credentials as a flight nurse, an acute/critical care nurse and an emergency nurse and is licensed in Florida as an APRN, emergency medical technician, paramedic and registered nurse.
Her professional memberships include the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Heart Failure Society of America and Emergency Nurses Association. She is a member of three honor societies: Sigma Theta Tau for nurses, Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi.
Outside of work, Dana enjoys going on cruises and finds that she can often bond with patients about planning their next getaway. She also likes gardening, boating and spending time with her husband, two daughters and their goldendoodle, Skipper.
