Dr. Dominick Mastroianni is a board-certified hospice and palliative care physician with the Supportive and Palliative Care Program at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. He provides care and support for patients living with a serious illness, at any stage of a disease, with his team. His expertise includes:
- Management of complex physical and emotional symptoms (pain, nausea, fatigue and lack of appetite)
- Advocating for care plans across providers and settings that align with each patient’s goals
- Advance care planning, based on the patient’s values for stressful times
Dr. Mastroianni believes in thoughtful communication to ensure that the goals and priorities of his patients and their families are met. He treats the whole person and emphasizes patient-centered care so they feel empowered with knowledge and options to manage difficult situations.
Dr. Mastroianni’s Training
Dr. Mastroianni received his medical training at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa. He completed his internal medicine residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a fellowship in palliative medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Mastroianni is double board-certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and American College of Physicians.
Dr. Mastroianni has more than a decade of experience in palliative care. He developed and directed a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship, training the next generation of doctors on the latest treatment approaches. He also has delivered presentations nationally.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, church, Orlando City soccer and USF football.
