Emily Baer is a speech-language pathologist with the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. She specializes in facilitating rehabilitation for all voice users including providing care for singers, aging voices, dysphoria, neurological disorders and other voice-related issues.  Her areas of expertise include:

  • Swallowing evaluation and treatment
  • Videostroboscopic voice evaluation
  • Voice evaluation and treatment
  • Flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing
  • Tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis evaluation and treatment
  • Singing voice assessment and rehabilitation
  • Chronic refractory cough suppression therapy

Emily strives to understand each patient's unique voice and communication style. Her goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment through personalized assessments and tailored interventions.

Emily’s Training

She received her bachelor’s degree in musical theater from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and earned her Master of Science (MS) in speech, language and hearing sciences from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Emily graduated magna cum laude from both schools.

She also studied communication sciences and disorders in a post-baccalaureate program at Chapman University in Orange, California.

About Emily

Emily holds a certificate of clinical competency in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has completed advanced training in a variety of areas such as dysphagia therapy, post-laryngectomy rehabilitation, and voice and swallowing disorders. 

Emily has taken part in research on a variety of voice-related topics including presbyphonia and vocal fold paresis. She has been a regular speaker on vocal performance, voice disorders and treatments and more. 

Outside of work, she enjoys pottery and singing with the Orlando Gay Chorus. She has performed professionally in national touring and regional musical theater.
