Bio
Dr. H. Drexel Dobson III is a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon with Orlando Health Medical Group Surgery. He has more than 30 years of experience and specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. His expertise includes:
- Colon and rectal surgery
- Advanced robotic surgery
- Simple and complex hernia repair
- Complex abdominal surgery
- Minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery
- Abdominal wall reconstruction
- Oncologic surgery
Dr. Dobson considers it a privilege to be entrusted with a patient’s life and strives to honor that responsibility by devoting as much time as each patient needs, answering questions and providing reassurance. He cares for each patient the way he would want to be treated.
Dr. Dobson’s Training
Dr. Dobson received his bachelor’s degree and medical degree in a combined six-year honors program from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He completed a general surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, where he also completed a colon and rectal surgery fellowship. Dr. Dobson received additional specialized training in advanced laparoscopic bowel, colon and rectal surgery.
About Dr. Dobson
Dr. Dobson is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. His professional memberships include the Society of American Gastrointestinal Surgeons and Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Dobson served as president of the American Cancer Society and has been part of the speakers bureau for more than 15 years.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, tinkering with cars and electronics, traveling and skiing. Dr. Dobson also volunteers with several community organizations and serves on the boards of nonprofit groups.
He is fluent in English and Spanish.
