Dr. Jan Hachmann is a dual fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute. His expertise includes epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, brain tumor surgery, awake brain surgery and advanced brain mapping, skull base surgeries, laser ablation, robot-assisted neurosurgery, and endoscopic and minimally invasive brain surgery.

He treats a variety of conditions, including:

Dr. Hachmann’s Training

Dr. Hachmann earned his medical degree at Heidelberg University in Germany, where he also received a master’s degree in translational medical research, specializing in molecular oncology. He served a postdoctoral research fellowship in neural engineering at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Hachmann completed his residency in neurological surgery and fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He also holds a master’s in business administration from VCU. Dr. Hachmann completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville in neurosurgical oncology, focusing on complex cranial surgery, awake brain surgery and advanced brain mapping.

About Dr. Hachmann

His professional memberships include the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurologic Surgeons, American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, North American Neuromodulation Society, Southern Neurosurgical Society, Society for Neuro-Oncology and American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Hachmann’s research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals focusing on neuromodulation and neurorehabilitation, neural engineering, spinal cord injury and brain tumors. He has also co-authored several book chapters on topics including spinal cord injury, deep brain stimulation and brain cancer. Dr. Hachmann has taught courses on functional neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery, and he serves on the administrative committee of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.

Outside of work, Dr. Hachmann enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, hiking, gardening, kayaking, scuba diving and traveling.

He is fluent in English and German.
