Jeffrey Smith, MD, FACS
Jeffrey Smith, MD, FACS, is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He serves as a member of the breast oncology and melanoma/sarcoma departments at Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center. Additionally, he is an assistant clinical professor at both Florida State University and University of Florida.
Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed a general surgery internship and residency at Orlando Health, where he served as chief surgical resident. He continues to be active in surgical education and has received teaching awards from Florida State University and Orlando Health.
His practice focuses on breast oncology and also includes laparoscopic surgery, melanoma, and hernia surgery. The breast oncology department of Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center recently received the distinction of being recognized as an accredited center through the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. This accreditation is awarded to select centers, which demonstrate high standards and multidisciplinary coordination of care.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Smith has made multiple presentations and is published in several journals. He is currently the chairman of the Orlando Health Surgical Quality Committee. He is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and volunteers with Shepherd’s Hope. He previously served on the board of directors for the Central Florida Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
