Bio
Dr. Jennifer Ayscue is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon with Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute. She is the chief of colorectal surgery for the west region at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. She has been a colorectal surgeon for more than 20 years and most recently served as the vice chief of quality, safety and outcomes for department surgery at a healthcare system in the Northeast. Dr. Ayscue’s extensive experience includes treating:
- Rectal prolapse
- Fecal incontinence
- Colorectal cancer
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Pelvic floor disorders
- Anorectal diseases
Dr. Ayscue understands the sensitive nature of her patients’ conditions and takes extra care to help them talk about their symptoms and navigate their diagnosis. She is also skilled in minimally invasive robotic surgery.
Dr. Ayscue’s Training
Dr. Ayscue earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas before completing a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Ayscue also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
About Dr. Ayscue
Dr. Ayscue is board-certified in colon and rectal surgery as well as in general surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, where she serves on national committees. She is also a member of several other medical organizations.
Dr. Ayscue is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Surgical Oncology and has been published in several other medical journals during the past two decades on topics including minimally invasive surgery for rectal cancer, transanal endoscopic microsurgery and fecal incontinence.
Outside of work, Dr. Ayscue enjoys playing tennis, reading, watching movies and spending time with her children. She is also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
