Jorge Uribe, MD, is a cardiologist with the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute. He specializes in general and invasive cardiology and is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Uribe performs advanced, invasive procedures of the heart to identify and treat conditions such as coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, vascular disease and more.
Cardiac Specialty Care
Dr. Uribe is a highly trained and qualified invasive cardiologist who provides specialty care and treatment patients with progressive, structural and congenital heart conditions. He also treats electric abnormalities in the heart. Some of his areas of expertise include a full range of diagnostics to identify his patient's specific condition. Two of these are:
Echocardiography – This procedure provides live images of the heart to identify how the heart and valves are functioning and determine appropriate next steps for treatment.
Nuclear Cardiology – This diagnostic procedure enables Dr. Uribe to determine the extent of damage to the heart by introducing a small amount of radioactive material. He is able to examine blood flow, heart function, and "see" the size and location of a heart attack. This information allows him to provide the best treatment for his patient.
Dr. Uribe’s Training
Dr. Uribe earned his medical degree from Universidad Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora Del Rosario, Medicine School and completed his internship at Universidad de Antioquia Facultad de Medicina, both in Colombia. He then participated in the internal medicine programs at Orlando Health and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
