Bio
Dr. Joseph Monir is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute, specializing in treatment of pain and injury in the hands and upper extremities. His expertise includes:
- Upper-extremity fractures and trauma
- Endoscopic and open carpal tunnel release
- Cubital tunnel surgery
- Ligament and tendon repair and reconstruction
- Hand and wrist arthritis
- Shoulder and elbow arthritis and joint replacement
- Arthroscopic surgery
- Peripheral nerve surgery
- Microsurgery
- Workplace injuries
Dr. Monir strongly believes that each patient’s treatment should be tailored to their goals and desires, and he prides himself in providing high-quality and individualized care.
Dr. Monir’s Training
Dr. Monir received his bachelor’s degree in applied physiology and kinesiology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he also earned his medical degree. He graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Monir completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at UF and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Emory University in Atlanta.
About Dr. Monir
Dr. Monir has written for numerous peer-reviewed publications on hand and upper extremity surgery and is a peer reviewer for several academic journals. He is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, exercising and discovering new restaurants.
