Bio
Lauren Kearney is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C) and registered nurse first assist (RNFA) with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. She has a keen interest in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, and her expertise includes:
- Managing acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions in adults and children in an orthopedic walk-in clinic
- Assisting in sports, trauma, total joint, and hand and upper extremity surgery
- Prescribing medications, physical and occupational therapy, and durable medical equipment
- Fracture reduction, casting and splinting
- Joint aspiration and injections
As a RNFA, Lauren has received training that enables her to have an expanded role during surgeries. Her duties include providing surgical site exposure, suturing and wound management.
Lauren has served Central Florida since 2015. She believes that patient education and timely communication can empower patients to take part in clinical decision-making, act as their own advocate and strengthen the patient-provider relationship.
Lauren’s Training
She received bachelor’s degrees in classical vocal performance from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, and in nursing from Remington College of Nursing in Orlando. She graduated with honors from both programs. Lauren earned her certificate in orthopedics, her Master of Science in nursing on the family nurse practitioner track and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
About Lauren
Lauren also is the supervisor of advanced practice providers at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic, where her duties include developing training programs and continuing education for APPs and supervising the onboarding of new providers.
She is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed as an APRN and registered nurse by the Florida Department of Health. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners' Orthopedics Specialty Practice Group and Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys singing, playing guitar, songwriting, cooking, weight training and riding the Peloton.
