Bio
Dr. Mark Hughes is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Orlando Health Medical Group Gastroenterology. He diagnoses and treats diseases in the GI tract and has a special clinical interest in managing complex reflux patients. His expertise includes:

- Eosinophilic esophagitis

With 35 years of experience, Dr. Hughes believes in treating patients like family. He prides himself on being a good listener and discussing medical issues in layman's terms.
Dr. Hughes’ Training
Dr. Hughes earned a bachelor’s degree at Murray State University in Kentucky and received his medical degree from the University of Louisville. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati.
About Dr. Hughes
Dr. Hughes is board certified in gastroenterology and hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Florida Gastroenterologic Society.
Dr. Hughes is passionate about colon cancer screening and raises community awareness though newspaper and TV interviews, as well as public lectures. He also served on the Governor’s Commission on Colon Cancer Prevention in Kentucky before moving to Florida. Dr. Hughes has practiced in Brevard County since 2012.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, watching college basketball and football, traveling, golf, skiing and trying new restaurants.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
