Dr. Mohamed Elshazly is a board-certified cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiology physician with the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. His expertise includes:

  • Arrhythmia consultation and management
  • Cardiac implantable devices consultation and management
  • Atrial fibrillation ablation
  • Atrial flutter and SVT ablation
  • Implantation of left atrial appendage occlusion devices
  • Placement of pacemakers and defibrillators
  • Conduction system pacing
  • Implantation of complex devices including leadless pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and extravascular defibrillators

Dr. Elshazly’s Training

Dr. Elshazly received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine in Education City, Qatar, where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he was honored for providing outstanding outpatient care, and fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and cardiac electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where he received several research and teaching awards. Dr. Elshazly also earned a master’s degree in biotechnology enterprise and entrepreneurship at the Johns Hopkins Krieger School of Arts and Sciences in Baltimore. 

About Dr. Elshazly

His research interests include atrial fibrillation, digital health and artificial intelligence, with a focus on the clinical applications of wearable devices in cardiovascular care and arrhythmia management. He is also an entrepreneur and has founded two startups in the telehealth and medical education space.

Dr. Elshazly is triple board-certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society. He is an adjunct assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and has published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and medical textbooks, including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, Heart Rhythm and Nature Reviews Cardiology. He has received several research awards and grants and has led clinical trials in digital health. He is also a reviewer for several medical publications.

Outside of work, Dr. Elshazly enjoys soccer and traveling with his wife and daughter. He also loves reading and learning about history and the evolution of global cultures and civilizations. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
