  • 18 years of age or older
  • More than 100 pounds overweight with a BMI ranging from 35 to 65
  • Suffer two serious health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnea
  • Have been at your current level of obesity for at least two years

Robotic Bariatric Procedures We Perform

The surgeons at Orlando Health Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute perform robotic bariatric procedures that meet each patient’s individual needs. Robotic surgery provides a high level of precision for the surgeon and typically results in less pain and scarring, fewer complications and a faster recovery.

During robotic sleeve gastrectomy 70 to 80 percent of the stomach is removed to enable patients to lose excess weight. This minimally invasive surgery usually requires one overnight stay in the hospital, and patients can expect to return to normal activity in two weeks or less.

The duodenal switch procedure, which also is known as malabsorptive weight loss, makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine so fewer calories are absorbed. Those who have this procedure can expect to lose 70 to 80 percent of their excess body weight and keep it off by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
