Naoir Zaher, MD is a board-certified neurologist and epileptologist with the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute. His clinical interests focus on helping patients control seizures using both medical and surgical therapies. He works closely in conjunction with the department of neurosurgery to coordinate comprehensive epilepsy surgery care. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as the division director of epilepsy and seizure disorders.
Treatment and Management of Epilepsy
With his extensive knowledge and skill, Dr. Zaher works with his patients to manage the day-to-day and long-term effects of epilepsy through pharmacological therapy. In addition, he collaborates with neurosurgeons to evaluate patients who may be candidates for nonpharmacological and surgical treatments of epilepsy. Work-up may include:
- Diagnostic imaging
- Functional MRIs for language, motor and vision
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
- Neuroimmunology evaluations and treatments
- Nuclear medicine (SPECT and PET Scans)
- Video Electroencephalograms (EEGs)
Dr. Zaher’s Training
Dr. Zaher earned his medical degree from the Tichreen University Medical School in Syria followed by a residency in neurology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He then underwent fellowship training in the clinical neurophysiology/epilepsy track at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
About Dr. Zaher
He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both neurology and epilepsy, and holds membership in the American Epilepsy Society. Other professional achievements include participation in multiple research studies, involvement in clinical trials, and numerous invitations to lecture.
Dr. Zaher is fluent in both English and Arabic.
