Orlando Ruiz-Rodriguez, MD, FCCP, is a board-certified pulmonary/critical care/sleep medicine specialist with Orlando Health Medical Group Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. He specializes in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. He also provides critical care to patients with critical medical illness and acute or life-threatening pulmonary conditions.
Critical Care Medicine
One area Dr. Ruiz-Rodriguez specializes in is critical care medicine, treating patients suffering from life threatening medical conditions and severely worsening pulmonary disease. Such patients usually are admitted through the emergency department and then transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU). Here he will stabilize, diagnose and treat patients with acute and life-threatening conditions, and he works closely with a group of specialists to provide the best level of care possible to these patients.
Dr. Ruiz-Rodriguez’s Training
Dr. Ruiz-Rodriguez earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe, School of Medicine followed by a residency in internal medicine at the University of Puerto Rico, both located in San Juan. He then completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Texas A & M College of Medicine in Texas and another in critical care at St. Louis University in Missouri.

Dr. Ruiz-Rodriguez is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and recognized by the American Board of Internal Medicine as a diplomate in the areas of pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and sleep medicine.
He also is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Critical Care Medicine, World Association of Bronchology, American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, American College of Chest Physicians, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and American Thoracic Society.
In addition to previously being recognized by the Consumer’s Research Council of America as one of “America’s Top Physicians�?, Dr. Ruiz-Rodriguez is currently a member of the teaching faculty for the Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center Pulmonary Fellowship Program.
He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
