Bio
Dr. Paul Williamson is a board-certified colorectal surgeon with the Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute. He has cared for patients in Central Florida for more than 35 years while prioritizing a patient-first approach and acknowledging God’s grace in the delivery of their care. He treats patients with:
- Neoplastic diseases of the small intestine, colon, rectum and anus
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including diverticulitis
- Surgical management of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease
- Complex pelvic tumors
- Recto-urethral fistula
- Anorectal abscesses and fistula
- Pelvic floor disorders, including rectal prolapse
- Fecal incontinence
- Colonic polyposis
- Hemorrhoidal disease
Dr. Williamson is known for his work in the treatment of colon, rectal and anal cancers, Crohn’s ano-rectal fistulas, repair of traumatic sphincter injury, local excision of rectal cancers, and complex surgical approaches to pelvic and para sacral masses. He also has extensive experience and expertise in the treatment and repair of colostomies as well as abdominal wall reconstruction.
Dr. Williamson’s Training
Dr. Williamson earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University Bowman-Gray School of Medicine in North Carolina, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree and graduated magna cum laude. He completed his residency in general surgery at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was chief resident in his final year. His fellowship in colorectal surgery was performed at the Carle Clinic in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
About Dr. Williamson
Dr. Williamson is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Williamson is an associate professor of surgery at the University of Central Florida School of Medicine and also taught at the University of Florida. He has served as chairman of the Surgery Department at Orlando Health, chairman of the Surgical Quality Committee and is a member of the Credentials Committee.
Outside of work, he enjoys basketball, golf, working out, traveling, spending time with family and volunteering at his church.
