Rafael O. Toro-Serra, MD, serves as a head and neck surgical oncologist as part of the Rod Taylor Thoracic Care Center and Head and Neck Cancer Center at Orlando Health Cancer Institute.
Dr. Toro-Serra earned his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico before completing his general surgery residency at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, where he was named Gold Star Resident of the Year in Pediatric Surgery. He then completed his head and neck surgery fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Toro-Serra has presented papers at the Combined Otolaryngological Spring Meetings in Chicago, and at the State University of New York Research Day in Buffalo. Additionally, he contributed to the parathyroid carcinoma chapter in the published medical book Surgery of Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands, 2nd Edition.
Prior to joining Orlando Health Cancer Institute, Dr. Toro-Serra served as a head and neck endocrine surgeon at the Norman Parathyroid Center, located near Tampa. Dr. Toro-Serra is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
