Bio
Dr. Rafael Mañon is a board-certified radiation oncologist and president of Orlando Health Cancer Institute, where he oversees the strategic development and operational performance of oncology services. His specialties include:
- Head and neck cancer
- Thoracic cancer
- Advanced proton therapy
Dr. Mañon brings nearly two decades of experience as a dynamic leader as well as a knowledgeable and compassionate care provider to his role.
Since joining Orlando Health in 2005, Dr. Mañon has served in several leadership positions including Department of Radiation Oncology chair, Radiation Safety Committee chair, Head and Neck Quality Committee chair and research director of radiation oncology.
He understands the fears and unknowns of cancer and believes in putting his patients front and center.
Dr. Mañon’s Training
Dr. Mañon earned a bachelor’s degree at Florida State University in Tallahassee and received his medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, where he served as chief resident.
About Dr. Mañon
Dr. Mañon is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology and licensed by the Florida Department of Health. His professional memberships include the American Cancer Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society for Radiation Oncology and Radiation Therapy Oncology Group.
Dr. Mañon serves as an assistant professor in radiation oncology at the University of Florida. He also has faculty appointments at the University of Central Florida and Florida State University.
Dr. Mañon has received several awards, including the Outstanding Achievement in Science, Engineering and Mathematics Award from the Office of Naval Research and the Exemplary Physician Colleague Award from Orlando Health. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has written book chapters about radiation oncology.
Outside of work, Dr. Mañon enjoys martial arts and holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
