Bio
Dr. Ricardo Prieto is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute. He has 20 years of experience diagnosing and treating diseases in the gastrointestinal tract, and his specialties include:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Hepatobiliary disorders
- Colorectal cancer
- Eosinophilic esophagitis
- Barrett’s esophagus
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative colitis
Dr. Prieto’s Training
Dr. Prieto earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan and received his medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He completed his internal medicine residency and a fellowship in gastroenterology, digestive diseases and nutrition at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa.

Dr. Prieto is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His professional memberships include the American Gastroenterological Association and American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Prieto’s research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has delivered presentations at national conferences.
Outside of work, Dr. Prieto enjoys spending time with family, reading, fishing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and kayaking. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
