Bio
Dr. Sameh Girgis is a board-certified cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist with Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute He specializes in treating conditions involving the heart’s electrical system, and his expertise includes:
- Cardiac electrophysiology
- Cardiac ablation of atrial fibrillation
- Cardiac ablation of supraventricular tachycardias
- Ventricular tachycardia ablation
- Pacemaker implants
- Defibrillator implants
- Cardiac resynchronization therapy implant
- Lead extraction
Practicing medicine in different parts of the world has shaped Dr. Girgis’ patient care philosophy. He believes in evidence-based care and in treating each patient as a whole. Dr. Girgis strives to make his patients feel safe, valued and empowered throughout their healthcare journeys.
Dr. Girgis’ Training
Dr. Girgis received his medical training at Tanta University Faculty of Medicine in Egypt and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Dr. Girgis completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio and in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
About Dr. Girgis
Dr. Girgis is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and a member of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Girgis previously served as associate program director and assistant professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, karate, tennis, ping pong, reading and singing in his church choir.
Dr. Girgis is fluent in English and Arabic.
