Bio
Dr. Sara Ardila is a breast surgical oncologist with the Breast Care Center at Orlando Health Cancer Institute. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease, and her surgical expertise includes:
- Mastectomy (simple, skin-sparing, nipple-sparing)
- Lumpectomy
- Breast biopsy
- Sentinel lymph node biopsy
- Axillary lymph node dissection
- Aesthetic flat closure
- Onco-plastic technique
Dr. Ardila’s clinical interests include high-risk breast disease, young and elderly populations with breast cancer, and pregnancy-associated breast cancer. She also has special interests in onco-lactation and exercise oncology.
She is dedicated to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care. Her mission is to ensure that patients and their loved ones understand their treatment options and help them reach an informed decision that best meets their unique needs and values.
Dr. Ardila’s Training
Dr. Ardila earned a bachelor’s degree in applied physiology and kinesiology with a specialization in exercise physiology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She received her medical degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, where she was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Ardila completed a general surgery residency at Orlando Health and a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
About Dr. Ardila
Dr. Ardila is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Her professional memberships include the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Surgeons and American Medical Women’s Association.
Dr. Ardila’s research has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and she has delivered presentations at national conferences.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, tennis and participating in community events.
She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
