Bio
Sara Ellefson is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute specializing in sports medicine. She has cared for athletes, as well as weekend warriors who want to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Her expertise includes:
- Fracture care (bracing, casting and splinting)
- Sports physicals
- Suturing
- Injury prevention
- Wellness promotion
Sara believes recovery works best when providers and patients work together. She encourages open communication, mutual trust and shared decision-making to ensure that each patient feels heard and is educated and empowered to take an active role in their healing.
Sara’s Training
Sara earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She received her master’s degree in athletic training from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
About Sara
Sara is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed as a PA in Florida. Her professional memberships include Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery, Athletic Trainers in the Physician Practice Society and National Athletic Trainers Association.
Sara also is a certified athletic trainer who has worked at orthopedic clinics in Utah and Florida and on the sidelines at sporting events.
Outside of work, she enjoys cycling, mountain biking, running, kayaking, camping, scuba diving and traveling.

The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
