Dr. Shivanand Karkal is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in heart disease at the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. One of his goals is to be the best advocate for every patient he sees. His specialties include:

Dr. Karkal’s Training
Dr. Karkal received his medical training at Seth G S Medical College-King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India. After stints in internal medicine, cardiology and neurology, he was board certified in internal medicine at the University of Mumbai. He underwent internal medicine training at the University of California, Long Beach VA Medical Center. His fellowship in clinical and interventional cardiology was performed at Cornell University Medical Center in New York.
About Dr. Karkal
After a fellowship in medical journalism in San Francisco, Dr. Karkal served as editor of several medical journals and was published in peer-reviewed publications such as the American Heart Journal and Journal of Geriatric Cardiology. He also has written for the Indian edition of Reader’s Digest and had a weekly column in The Sunday Standard, India's largest English language daily.
Outside of work, Dr. Karkal enjoys reading, writing and travel, and he uses those interests to connect with his patients. He is fluent in English, Marathi and Hindi.
