Bio
Dr. Sotero Peralta is a board-certified vascular surgeon with Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. He diagnoses and treats a variety of conditions affecting the arteries and veins, and his expertise includes:
- Abdominal aortic and lower extremity aneurysms
- Carotid artery procedures (endarterectomy and stenting)
- Peripheral arterial disease management (open bypass, endovascular intervention and medical therapy)
- Dialysis access
- Venous disease (varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism)
- Mesenteric artery disease
- Renovascular disease
Dr. Peralta believes in treating each patient with the same compassion, dedication and respect he would his own family.
Dr. Peralta’s Training
Dr. Peralta received his medical training with high honors at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He completed a general surgery residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, and a vascular surgery fellowship at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Great Neck, New York.
About Dr. Peralta
Dr. Peralta is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Society for Vascular Surgery. He is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Dr. Peralta is a member of the American Venous Forum.
He has taught at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Peralta’s research on vascular and endovascular surgery has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has delivered presentations at national and international conferences.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, soccer and traveling.
Dr. Peralta is fluent in English and Spanish.
