Bio
Dr. Stephen Raterman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. With 40 years of experience, his expertise includes:
- Joint replacement
- Reconstructive surgery
- Arthroscopic surgery for hips, knees and shoulders
Dr. Raterman is an innovator in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery of the knee and hip, including partial knee replacements and hip resurfacing. He is one of a few doctors in the region who do hip resurfacing.
Dr. Raterman’s Training
Dr. Raterman earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Bellarmine College in Louisville, Kentucky, and received his medical degree from the University of Louisville. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and received additional sports medicine training at Orthopaedic Associates of Aspen and the Southern California Institute for Sports Medicine.
About Dr. Raterman
Dr. Raterman is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Florida Orthopaedic Society.
Dr. Raterman serves a clinical associate professor of orthopedics at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, cycling, boating and water skiing.

Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
