Bio
Dr. Stephen Watts is a board-certified cardiologist with Orlando Health Medical Group Cardiology specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. He has 30 years of experience caring for patients in Central Florida and is also board certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and cardiology. His expertise includes:
- Ventricular tachycardia/sudden death
- Atrial fibrillation procedures, including ablation
- Mapping and ablation of focal and reentrant atrial tachycardia/flutter
- Supraventricular tachycardia
- Atrioventricular node modification for definitive rate control of atrial tachyarrhythmias
- Implantation of heart failure devices
- Holter and event monitoring
- Follow-up and monitoring of implanted devices
- Device and lead extractions
- Left atrial appendage occlusion procedures
Dr. Watts believes that each patient should fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their care. He emphasizes the importance of communication and education to provide peace of mind.
Dr. Watts’ Training
Dr. Watts earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge and received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts in Worcester. He completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Yale University’s Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He also completed a fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Watts is triple board certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. His professional memberships include the Heart Rhythm Society and Brevard County Medical Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Watts enjoys spending time with his wife and children, walking his poodle, racquet sports and traveling.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
