Ted Newman is a certified nurse practitioner (CNP) with the radiation oncology team at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. He joined the cancer institute in 2016 as a nurse practitioner in medical oncology and has experience in:
- Performing history and physical exams on adult oncology patients with acute medical issues
- Prescribing medication
- Ordering diagnostic scans and laboratory tests
- Collaborating with specialists
Ted has almost 20 years of experience including staff nurse in the U.S. Navy; infusion therapy nurse at a VA hospital in Seattle; and a registered nurse (RN) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MInnesota.
Ted’s Training
Ted earned his Master of Science in nursing (MSN) in the adult-gerontology nurse practitioner program from the University of Central Florida School of Nursing in Orlando. He performed clinical rotations in primary care, community health, gerontology, breast cancer and women’s health.
He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he was inducted into the Sigma Theta honor society of nursing. He also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.

Ted is certified as an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner (AGPC-NP) by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and is licensed in Florida as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).
He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
