    Orlando, Fla. (March 14, 2022) --- A new study by researchers at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) found a blood test for traumatic brain injury performs just as well as the clinical guidelines emergency medicine physicians use to decide if a patient with a mild traumatic brain injury or concussion needs a computed tomography (CT) scan. The discovery of the high performance TBI biomarkers blood test may improve the detection of brain injuries on CT, while reducing the need for CT scans. The study was recently published in JAMA Network Open, an international, peer-reviewed, open access, general medical journal.

  • Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute Center for Advanced Endoscopy, Research and Education opens

    Orlando, Fla. (February 7, 2022) – Phase one of the new Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute Center for Advanced Endoscopy, Research and Education (CARE) officially opened today. Located on the downtown Orlando campus adjacent to Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center, the center features technologically advanced procedure rooms, preoperative and recovery bays and support space for patients and staff. Phase two of the center, which will increase square footage creating additional space for patient care and staff, will open in the summer of 2022. The highly specialized gastrointestinal diagnostic and treatment center will serve as the flagship destination of the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute, one of the most comprehensive gastrointestinal programs in the southeastern United States.

  • Orlando Health announces new president of Health Central Hospital

    Orlando, FL (April 4, 2016) – Orlando Health has named Mark Marsh, senior vice president, Orlando Health and president, Health Central Hospital. He will begin his new role May 1, replacing Greg Ohe, who was recently named senior vice president of ambulatory services for Orlando Health. Mr. Marsh most recently served as chief executive officer of Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, a 270-bed acute care hospital. In that position, he was responsible for operations, building physician relationships, and engaging employees.

Orlando Health has officially opened The Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy, bringing state-of-the-art cancer treatment options to those battling cancer in Central Florida. The center, the first to offer proton therapy treatments in Central Florida, joins an elite group of proton therapy centers around the world.     ORLANDO, FL. (May 26, 2016) – When Zayne Burton’s parents, Lori and Chaz, heard the diagnosis that their 12-year-old son had a medullablastoma, a tumor of the brain and spine, they were in shock. Quickly, however, their focus turned to treating the curable cancer so their son could go on to live a healthy life. Their journey brought them to The Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, which had just opened, becoming the first proton center in Central Florida to treat patients us-ing proton beams, a type of radiation therapy, to shrink tumors. Just weeks after his diagnosis and surgery to remove the tumor, Zayne, a 7th grader from Orlando, began proton therapy treatment at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, becoming the first pediatric patient treated in Central Florida with this revolutionary treatment option.
