Orlando Health Launches Preferred Education Program
Orlando, FL (November 12, 2020) – Orlando Health team members who want to pursue an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or certificate at Valencia College, can do so without incurring any out-of-pocket costs. Effective December 1, 2020, the healthcare system will launch its Preferred Education Program which allows team members to attend Valencia College and pay nothing upfront. Orlando Health will pay 100 percent of the cost of tuition and books directly to the college, up to the annual cap limit for full-time and part-time team members.

Orlando, FL (November 15, 2024) – An Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute surgeon is the first in Florida to implant new technology that utilizes a natural compound found in coral to heal cartilage injuries. Dr. Abhishek Kannan completed the procedure to treat a patient suffering from chronic knee pain on November 11.

Four-Legged Team Member Joins Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children to Bring Healing and Hope to Patients
Orlando, FL (March 21, 2022) -- Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is proud to announce the arrival of its first-ever facility dog, Parks, a 2-year-old male Labrador retriever. Parks joins the hospital’s child life team to help bring healing, comfort and fun to chronic and critically ill patients, their families and team members. Orlando Health Arnold Palmer received Parks at no cost from Canine Companions®, an organization that has trained and provided facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice and educational settings since 1975.

Brian Wetzel named President of Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital
Orlando, FL (June 24, 2022) – Orlando Health has named Brian Wetzel president of Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital effective July 1, 2022. He replaces Ohme Entin, who will become the chief operating officer for Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) effective June 27. Mr. Wetzel is currently president of Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital, a hospital he opened in January 2020 as chief operating officer.
