Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Announces Participation in Leading International, Multicenter Clinical Trials
Orlando, FL (March 5, 2024) – The Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute has become a center in three international, multicenter clinical research trials that seek to improve orthopedic surgery outcomes for people around the world. Sports medicine surgeon Bruce Levy, MD, who served as a site principal investigator in his previous role at the Mayo Clinic, brought the clinical trials to Orlando Health when he joined the team last fall. He’s now the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute academic chief of sports medicine and director of the sports medicine surgical fellowship program.

Orlando, Fla. (February 7, 2022) – Phase one of the new Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute Center for Advanced Endoscopy, Research and Education (CARE) officially opened today. Located on the downtown Orlando campus adjacent to Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center, the center features technologically advanced procedure rooms, preoperative and recovery bays and support space for patients and staff. Phase two of the center, which will increase square footage creating additional space for patient care and staff, will open in the summer of 2022. The highly specialized gastrointestinal diagnostic and treatment center will serve as the flagship destination of the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute, one of the most comprehensive gastrointestinal programs in the southeastern United States.

Fifty-two-year-old Michael “Kevin” Rathel received the investigational therapy around midnight; a mere 12 hours after compatible blood was donated.
