ORLANDO, Fla. (April 28, 2020) --- A small team from the Orlando Health Department of Pathology with unique skill sets, expertise, experience, and dedication came together for something big – the development of a COVID-19 lab test that could be used in-house to collect swabs/specimens and produce timely, accurate results. With the in-house lab test, results are available within 24 hours. Timely results are especially important at a time when labs across the country are receiving countless samples from hospitals, and patients are anxiously awaiting results that may unfortunately take several days.

Orlando, FL (June 3, 2024) –Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies has been recognized as a Maternal Levels of Care verified hospital by The Joint Commission through its collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and support from the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative. Orlando Health announces plans to build a freestanding emergency room in East Orange County
Orlando, FL (December 21, 2022) – Today, Orlando Health submitted to the Orange County Development Review Committee a request for a pre-application meeting along with renderings of a new freestanding emergency room (ER) the organization plans to build. The request provides specifications for the new ER, which features an 18,000 square foot facility with a capacity for up to 24 exam rooms, including two resuscitation rooms, a computerized tomography room, a radiology room, and a lab. It will be located at 11898 Lake Underhill Road, on a 5.57-acre site that was previously the location of a motorcycle dealership.

Orlando Health Celebrates Topping Out of New Patient Tower
Clermont, FL (December 8, 2022) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake County elected officials and community members celebrated another major milestone in the construction of its new, 95-bed patient tower. The hospital’s 75th anniversary, which was first celebrated earlier this year, was also commemorated during the event with the sealing of a time capsule. Physicians, nurses and team members filled the time capsule with photos, memories about Orlando Heath South Lake and letters to the next generation of healthcare workers.
