Team of 11 Orlando Health Physicians Performs Consecutive Surgeries on Mother and Baby with Rare, Life-Threatening Heart Tumor
Orlando, FL (November 23, 2022) – Orlando Health clinicians from seven different specialties came together to perform back-to-back surgeries on a mother and her baby who developed a life-threatening tumor in utero. Randyiah Paul came to Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies after learning that the teratoma (a type of germ cell tumor) on her unborn daughter’s heart had grown so rapidly, she wouldn’t survive unless surgeons intervened. Doctors say this is a rare type of tumor, and it is exceptionally rare for it to require fetal intervention.

Orlando, FL (April 5, 2019) – Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) celebrated National Donate Life Month with a ceremony and unique, interactive artwork dedication to honor organ, tissue and eye donors, and celebrate the gift of life, and build awareness about donation. The event was held Thursday, April 4, at ORMC.

Orlando Health provides Stop the Bleed training to Orange County Public Schools employees, and donates bleeding control kits
Orlando Health and Orange County Public Schools spent the summer break focused on preparedness lessons. The adult and pediatric trauma teams from Orlando Health provided Bleeding Control Basic (BCon) training to principals, assistant principals and other staff; and donated 1,000 bleeding control kits to the district. The training and donation took place during OCPS Safety Days throughout June and July, with final sessions on Monday, July 29.

Arnold Palmer Hospital receives $50,000 from St. Baldrick’s Foundation to treat more children with cancer on clinical trials
Orlando, FL (November 13, 2019) – The St. Baldrick’s Foundation awarded Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children with a $50,000 grant to ensure more patients have access to clinical trials. The hospital is one of 25 institutions in the country, and the only one in Florida, to receive funding from the organization and will use these funds to pursue additional research and advancements for cancer care.
