Phillips Hospital, Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC), Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital and Orlando Health South Lake Hospital have received “A” grades for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health system. For Orlando Health South Lake, this is its 9th consecutive “A” grade from Leapfrog.

Orlando, FL (May 10, 2022) – Orlando Health hospitals have been recognized for their excellence in keeping patients safe and providing quality care. The Leapfrog Group, a national independent organization that’s committed to healthcare quality and patient safety has released its spring 2022 safety grades in which all Orlando Health legacy hospitals received A grades: Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital and Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, which with this current grading period, has now received its eighth consecutive A grade.

Orlando Health Celebrates Topping Out of New Patient Tower
Clermont, FL (December 8, 2022) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake County elected officials and community members celebrated another major milestone in the construction of its new, 95-bed patient tower. The hospital’s 75th anniversary, which was first celebrated earlier this year, was also commemorated during the event with the sealing of a time capsule. Physicians, nurses and team members filled the time capsule with photos, memories about Orlando Heath South Lake and letters to the next generation of healthcare workers.

Orlando Health South Lake Hospital Opens New Patient Bed Tower
Clermont, FL (Feb. 8, 2024) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital is opening its new five-story patient tower as an extension to the existing 147-bed acute care hospital. This addition significantly increases the hospital’s bed count, expands the intensive care unit and brings new services to the Lake County area.

Orlando Health Treats First Pediatric Patient using Proton Therapy
ORLANDO, FL. (May 26, 2016) – When Zayne Burton’s parents, Lori and Chaz, heard the diagnosis that their 12-year-old son had a medullablastoma, a tumor of the brain and spine, they were in shock. Quickly, however, their focus turned to treating the curable cancer so their son could go on to live a healthy life. Their journey brought them to The Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, which had just opened, becoming the first proton center in Central Florida to treat patients us-ing proton beams, a type of radiation therapy, to shrink tumors. Just weeks after his diagnosis and surgery to remove the tumor, Zayne, a 7th grader from Orlando, began proton therapy treatment at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, becoming the first pediatric patient treated in Central Florida with this revolutionary treatment option.

Orlando Health Hospitals Recognized for Patient Safety with A Grades
All eligible Orlando Health hospitals received A grades in the most recent rating period by The Leapfrog Group, a patient safety advocacy organization. The hospitals are ORMC, Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, South Seminole Hospital, South Lake Hospital, in affiliation with Orlando Health, and Health Central Hospital. The Leapfrog Group does not grade specialty hospitals like Arnold Palmer Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital.
