  • Orlando Health Announces Plans to Establish New Freestanding Rehabilitation Institute

    Ocoee, FL (April 6, 2022) – To best meet the current demand and anticipated need for rehabilitative care in Central Florida and beyond, Orlando Health is announcing plans to develop a freestanding rehabilitation facility in West Orange County. The building will open as a 54-bed inpatient facility distinctively designed to provide high quality post-acute care for patients requiring medical and rehabilitative services. The current CARF-accredited inpatient rehabilitation program at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center will relocate to this new site, the first freestanding comprehensive medical rehabilitation facility in Orange County. CARF is the acronym for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

  • Orlando Health to acquire Alabama health system, expanding presence and patient care in the state

    Orlando, FL (April 8, 2026) – Orlando Health today announced plans to acquire RMC Health System in Anniston, Alabama, expanding the organization’s presence in the state and creating new opportunities to enhance patient care across the region. RMC is a not-for-profit health system that includes a 375-bed medical center, outpatient facilities and specialty practices serving patients throughout Northeast Alabama. Once the acquisition closes, RMC will become part of the organization’s Alabama Region, which includes Baptist Health. The transaction is expected to be completed this fall.

  • Orlando Health Announces Plans to Build Regional Weight Loss & Bariatric Surgery Institute

    Orlando, FL (Feb. 6, 2025) – On Thursday, Orlando Health submitted plans to the City of Orlando to build a state-of-the-art Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute that will serve patients throughout the southeastern United States. The two-story, 28,000-square-foot medical office building will be the new home of Orlando Health bariatric service lines including weight- loss surgery, endoscopic procedures, obesity medicine, revision and conversion procedures, robotic procedures and surgical body contouring. The Institute will dedicate space to its psychiatry and nutrition programs, including group meeting spaces and a demonstration kitchen. The Institute will also house an advanced training environment known as a Bioskills Lab.

    The new freestanding emergency room will serve patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week and be fully staffed. The opening date for the new facility has not yet been announced.

    Orlando, FL (July 11, 2022) – Orlando Health is expanding in the Tampa Bay area with plans for a new hospital in Wiregrass Ranch, a high-quality, master-planned community of more than 5,000 acres.  Located at the northeast corner of the intersection of State Road 56 and Wiregrass Ranch Boulevard, Orlando Health Wiregrass Ranch Hospital will be easily accessible for residents living in Pasco County and northern Hillsborough County.

  • Orlando Health plans additions to downtown Orlando campus

    Orlando, FL (January 24, 2019) – Orlando Health has announced plans for two new additions to its downtown Orlando campus. This week, plans for a new building located at 1800 S. Orange Avenue were submitted to City of Orlando’s planning division to begin the review and approval process. The one-story, 6,800 square foot facility will become home to a new Orlando Health Imaging Center. The new site will include state-of-the-art MRI, Open MRI, Radiology, CT Scan, Interventional Radiology and Mammography.

  • Orlando Health Announces Major Plans for Expansion in Lake County

    Orlando, FL (August 10, 2021) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital will soon start construction to expand its campus to provide South Lake County with greater access to high-quality healthcare. Plans include an expansion and renovations to the Orlando Health South Lake Center for Women’s Health and the construction of a new 95-bed patient tower. The first phase of construction will begin with the realignment of Don Wickham Drive to intersect with Legends Way and include the addition of a stoplight to improve traffic flow.
