Awards
The mission of the Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies is to train our fellows to become excellent clinicians, teachers, clinical leaders and researchers that provide compassionate, and state-of-the-art care wherever they serve. The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Program serves the community of Central Florida, delivering care to a diverse population including a large, underserved population, which aligns with the mission of Orlando Health.

Training Locations
Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies is an 11-story, 350-bed hospital that specializes in high-risk births, using every means available to ensure the safety and comfort of mother and baby. The state-of-the-art technology and personal care provided in our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offer premature babies a chance at life. In fact, our NICU has one of the highest survival rates in the country for low birthweight babies, and was once again ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Top Hospital for Neonatology 2023-2024. Our Level IV NICU has 142 beds to support a delivery population of more than 14,000 babies per year.

Shannon Dunn-Brockman, MD, RDN, IBCLC, FAAP
Dr. Brockman is proud to be the first Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship trainee at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. She joined the team after a career in military pediatrics and brings additional qualifications as a registered dietitian (RDN) and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Born and raised in Orlando, FL, she attended Florida State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and minors in Psychology, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences. Following graduation, she completed a year-long clinical internship at Emory Hospitals in Atlanta, GA to become a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist. She entered active duty in June 2011, while matriculating at the University of Florida College of Medicine as part of the United States Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program where she earned her medical degree with Honors for Academic Excellence in the top 10% of her graduating class.

Emilie Marie Flament, DO
Dr. Flament was born in Paris, France, and moved to Orlando, Florida, while in middle school. She attended Florida Southern College and graduated with a degree in biology, while also competing on the cross country and track teams. Following graduation, she attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM – Bradenton) where she met her future husband. Dr. Flament and her husband both matched and completed their residencies at Prisma Health Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. They are excited to be coming back home to Orlando for her neonatology fellowship. In her spare time, Dr. Flament enjoys traveling, running triathlons, sailing, and spending time with her orange tabby, Ollie.

Alexandra Vega, MD
Born in Carbondale, IL, to two young, recently graduated residents, Dr. Vega is a second-generation physician and is proud to follow in her parents’ footsteps. She completed her undergraduate degree with a major in biomedical sciences and a minor in childhood education and development at the University of Central Florida.
